Connecticut School of Professional Studies offers several academic programs designed to prepare students for careers in high demand fields. Students either starting their career or seeking a change will find several options to train for rewarding careers in fields with above average employment prospects.
Pharmacy Technician Training
Pharmacy technicians are in high demand – the number of pharmacies has exploded in recent years, with pharmacies in hospitals, nursing homes, grocery stores and on almost every street corner. These pharmacies need trained professionals to assist the pharmacist in dispensing medication to patients.
Most employers require certification, and prefer to hire candidates who have completed formal training. The program at CSPS will teach you the rules and regulations of pharmacology, how to perform pharmaceutical calculations, mix and prepare medications, verify insurance and prescription information. The program mixes classroom instruction, hands-on training and a “real-world” internship with a local pharmacy.

Accounting Training
Every business needs an effective accounting department; therefore accounting professionals are always in high demand. Accounting technicians, also known as bookkeepers, help maintain a company’s financial records. They enter transactions into the system, analyze financial data and prepare reports for management and investors.
The accounting technician program will teach you all the basic principles of accounting, including receivables, payables, fixed assets, payroll and taxes. We will also teach you how to use computers for business applications, prepare spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel and use the popular accounting software QuickBooks.
Upon completion of the program you will be eligible to become a Certified Bookkeeper by taking the certification exam offered by the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers (AIPB).
The program is accelerated, so you can complete your training in less than 3 months! The class schedule is designed to fit your busy schedule – you can keep your day job and take classes at night.
