Pharmacy Technician Training

Pharmacy technicians are in high demand – the number of pharmacies has exploded in recent years, with pharmacies in hospitals, nursing homes, grocery stores and on almost every street corner. These pharmacies need trained professionals to assist the pharmacist in dispensing medication to patients.

Most employers require certification, and prefer to hire candidates who have completed formal training. The program at CSPS will teach you the rules and regulations of pharmacology, how to perform pharmaceutical calculations, mix and prepare medications, verify insurance and prescription information. The program mixes classroom instruction, hands-on training and a “real-world” internship with a local pharmacy.

Upon completion of the program students will be eligible to take the certification exam offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) to become a Certified Pharmacy
Technician (CPhT)
at a state (www.ptcb.org) testing facility.
